The Luka State is a cool and upcoming rock band based in London, who released a new single “Bring this all together” a couple of weeks ago. The leading role of their last videoclip was none other than Thomas Brodie-Sangster (known from The Maze Runner & Game of Thrones)! Lara was one of the actors chosen to star in their new videoclip and she will share her experience with us!
T H E L U K A S T A T E
I was very excited to start shooting the videoclip. When we started I quickly found out that these days were going to be pretty intense and the script was challenging as well. The videoclip is about Lucy (me) who runs away from home. When she crosses a street, she almost gets run over by Elena (Sarah) and Kiran (Jelle); two mysterious rebel kids. There is a connection between Lucy and Elena when making eye contact, so Lucy steps into their car. From there on, the adventure begins and they go to mysterious places, drink and dance together and eventually end up on the beach. Elena and Lucy become close in the story and a romance starts between them…
Filming started on friday evening for me, until deep in the night, and on saturday the three of us started early in the morning again. The crew rented a car for us, in which we had to drive to Bloemendaal to shoot some scenes at the beach. Luckily for us the weather was good and we had a beautiful view!
We were all so tired of the long shooting days, so we took a nap in a restaurant in Bloemendaal! However, napping did not last very long, because the manager of the restaurant spotted us. He got really angry and started yelling at us..!! He thought that we partied too much the night before and were using his restaurant as a hotel, which was very bad for him, because this would definetly scare his customers away.. haha
We also filmed some car scenes, which were really funny. Jelle had not been driving in a long time. He had to go pretty fast and took really sharp small turns, so we almost flipped sideways!! It was again a long day; we ended around 1 AM and rushed to bed!
On sunday we had an amazing shooting location in Landsmeer. It was full of graffiti and artistic/creative people. We shot some dancing, drinking and other fun scenes, although the location was freezing cold!
The videoclip is only 3/4 minutes long, but it took us a whole weekend to film it. Nevertheless it was totally worth it!! The results are amazing.
